Ryan's ghost story

In a graveyard there was a ghost who hid behind the grave stones. He only came out at night because it was dark and nobody could see him. If he drank or ate it went through him because he was a ghost. The ghost was scary.

Jill came and helped me today

Swimming lessons

Today we had our first swimming lesson. We got put into three groups.  I was
in a group with some of the other boys. The first thing we did was
freestyle.  We had to go to halfway and then back.  We also did backstroke and
rockets. Then we played a game where we had to go fully underwater without
breathing and then whoever was the furtherest won.  I got first just barely.
My goals are to get better at freestyle because I am not very fast and I
want to get faster. I also want to keep my chin down at my chest, I want to
roll my head back into the water instead of putting it straight in when breathing.

today at swimming...

Today it was our first day of swimming. First we just got put into random groups. First I had to swim freestyle the entire way and back. Then we had to do it again. After that we had to do backstroke the whole way and back. After she said we have to do it again. I did find it hard about three quarters of the way there. I did not like the next one, it was streamline. I was so slow but I finished it. Of course we did it again but I was a bit better than before. I love games at the end. In this game we had to swim as long as we could with kicking. I did alright at that.

My goal is to kick faster and keep my body on the water in backstroke
And also breathe on my arm

Thomas Swimming

Today we went to swimming lesson. We were split into groups . We did some
lengths to half way and some of us got to swim to the end. At the end we
played a game and you had to see how long and how far you could hold your
breath for and how far we could get without going up to the top.
1. My goals are to put my chin on my chest
2. Another one is to keep my arms straight
3. Keep my legs straight when I am kicking

Swimming

Today we went to the pool for swimming.my goal for today was to get good a score in my assessment. I hopped in the pool. I was very cold but it got a lot warmer so that was good. I like going to swimming because it helps me learn to swim and it will come in handy one day I hope.

King Midas

King Midas

I am king Midas. One day I was walking over a hill. I was so bored that everyday I was just walking around. But then I saw buttons on a thing that has words. I clicked Neptune and it only printed a picture of Neptune. So I saw a town. I ran to the town over a very big hill and wow it is Hollywood. I went up and a cloud that was a sheep said from now everything you touched this will be gold. So I touched that hill and it turned gold. After that I thought it might not be good turning everything in to gold. I call for the sheep cloud but it doesn't come. I walk around so sadly but now I hear a noise. I looked up and there it is. I say can I please not make everything that I touch gold. But it just disssapears. So I walk around trying not to touch anything. I accidently touch it but I doesn't turn gold but now I am sure I couldn't of touched it. It is so hard not to touch anything. But now I saw an Iphone5 and you were alowed to hold it. I think I very very wanted one iphone5. I walk past and I was crying . I saw something that I was like no way. I saw the newest ever cricket bat that you could hold. It would be 3hundred dollars in a store. I was very annoyed that I couldn't hold it. I couldn't resist it so I go in and hold the bat it didn't turn into gold. I was happy about that but I just remember I sprinted to go hold the iphone5 so I was like this is the bet day of my life. So now I can touch everything like I did. I thought I am the best person in the world and I lived happily ever after. The end

Sent from my iPod

King Midas

Once there was an old king. He'd heard that there was a god that could grant him his only wish.

I washobbling to where the god is supposed to live. Up a very steep hill. "Olympus" I cried out. " Yes?" Replied Olympus. " what do you require?" I stared into the deep dark black eyes. " I want the power to turn everything I want into gold." It turned out that the god was a trickster kind of like a genie. But I had no idea at the time. " I will give you this power." A whoosh of gold sparks filled me making my fingers tingle violently.

I was filled with joy at my new power.
I went to my castle and went up to my room not touching anything. But I pulled my silver ring out and touched it. It instantly turned to gold.

I was so happy. Before I thought about it I hugged her hard.  Before I had realized my mistake I'd turned my wife gold forever unless I could reverse the spell...

Keep Calm and Carry on.

Midas

Midas
I was taking a walk down the street when I saw an intercom. I ran to it. I
took a phone call. I rang a random number. All I heard was I will
give you one wish. I took a long think. I decided whatever I touch will turn
into gold!! I walk down a path. It into solid gold. I went for a swim when
the rocks turned into gold. I touched my palace it turned into gleaming
gold. I touched some dust in the corner it turned into gold. The corner
was beautiful. I went to bed. I touched myself. I was slowly turning into
gold. I got some water and put it on me. I ran all the way to the
intercom. I pressed the button. I took the wish back just before
it got my mouth. Everything was back to the same old place. The birds were
chirping again and the trees are blowing.

The amazing race

The amazing race
Four teams of two will be competing for one million dollars. Every night one team maybe eliminated. They have to do events. Everyone has started racing. They have to go fly to Japan. It is 3am in the morning and they have all landed and now they will have to run to the castle and find a clue. Right, under 20 clues but there is one thousand seats.  The first team has come out and everyone else is still in there. Now every team is out and have got their clue.  It is now a road block and only one of them can do it. They have to ski down a course going in and out of the flags. They all have their clues. On this event they both have to throw an axe and hit the target ten times. They all took a while but they have got the next clue and have to go to the oldest ever Japanese building. Our first team is here but they also get a pass to go on a holiday and will also get to start earlier than the others in the final. Our second and third team arrive and are safe. Our last team is here and they have been eliminated. In this final they will have to do only three events but will it be their toughest. Our first team departs at eight thirty. They will have to go to the Japan international airport. They have all departed and are on the plane. They all find their clue in South Africa and now read it. They have to go through the biggest maze. Later they all come out of the maze. They will now have to ride a mechanical bull for 2 full minutes. They are on their last event. In this event they both will have to eat a medium sized spider. One team can not so it and the other teams have done it and are now heading to their pit stop on the top of a palace.  The other team's finished. Finally the first team arrives and win 1 million dollars.  But wait he gives them their next clue because they still have one more challenge. Our second and third team arrive.  They are so sad but he tells them that they still have another clue. Now this is a road block.  One person will hop onto a boat and will have to use a map and a compass.  They have all finished and surprisingly our first team arrives and that was the one that came to the pit stop earlier.  They were so happy. Our second team arrives.  They are so sad but then he said even though you came second I will give you 2000 dollars. They leave the race with smiles and money.  Our third team arrives they are so sad.  He asks them if you would like 1000 dollars for coming third.  So they also leave with smiles and money. I will see you next time on the amazing race

In a castle there lived an old king who had a wish that everything
was gold that he touched. It will work. So he touched every thing and the whole world was gold.

Swimming Groups

Today we were in our groups for the first time.  At the start my group swam eight lengths. We could pick what we wanted to do. I did four freestyle and four backstroke. At the end we played submarines. Laura did a whole length. I came 3rd out of all.  It was really fun to be in our groups for the first time and learn what level we are.

Ryan

Today we went to the pool and had a swim. The water was cold. We had a lovely teacher that always helped us when got half way.  I love swimming.

Lauras swimmng reflection 2

Today swimming was awesome because at the end we played a game. We even
had our groups sorted and prepared to swim. The strokes we did were
freestyle and backstroke. We did 200m freestyle. It wasn't hard for me
because I do it every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. I had a different
teacher than yesterday. Swimming is awesome on a hot day.

Bridget's 3 Goals for Swimming

3 Goals for Swimming

My goal is to get more confident in a deep pool.

My goal is to be able to do Freestyle and lean on to my arm to breathe
without standing up.

My goal is to be able to swim to the end of the pool and back.

Bridget's Improvement in Swimming

My Improvement in Swimming

I have improved from my first lesson for swimming because I have more
confidence but I still don't want to go to the end of the pool. I am
getting better at Swimming Freestyle and leaning on my arm to breathe but
haven't quite got it right at the moment. I was told by my swimming
instructor that I have improved from my first one lots. I have enjoyed
swimming more the second time more because I am now able to improve from
the day before.

Swimming lesson Brya

Yesterday Room 6 had swimming lessons . They give us a number while I was
swimming. Today I got to see what group I was in and I was in a
different group and I had a different teacher. I had fun.

Laura's Midas story

Midas
Once upon a time I made a wish. My wish was that everything I touch turns
into gold. My wish was granted on the top of Rainbow Land's tallest hill.
It's called Wishing Hill. The person who gave me the wish was Olympus.
He is a God. My name is king Midas and my crown is the shiniest crown in
the world. I have just touched a bird and it fell out of the sky. Can't
think why. I live in a blue mansion with a rainbow on the horizon. I have
gold plates and tea cups. Olympus said, "To erase the spell you have to
touch the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow". It is a 50, 50 chance
that I will touch the pot of gold. For now I'm happy with my gold
cutlery.

They all lived happily ever after.

Jack's swimming #2

Today was another day of swimming for Room 6. St Marys school, Mosgiel.
As usual it took about half an hour to get there and as soon as we had got
there we had to get changed and wait like a lion getting ready to pounce
on his prey and the prey was the pool (we were the lions!)  When the
scavenging buzzards (room 7) left the prey we pounced (A.K.A pouncing in
the pool!) and started the lessons and before we knew it we had to get
out.

Goal 1: swim a lot faster and straighter.

New goal 2: focus more

Goal 3: have more fun

Bridget's Midas

I'm King Midas and I love gold and money. I would just love if I could
make a wish.  it would be that everything I touch turns to gold. I'm so
lucky that I can make a wish that everything I touch turns to gold. I just need
to go and ask Olympus as nicely as possible. I would like to be able to
touch anything and it will turn to gold I told king Olympus. He said your
wish is granted. I'm now testing my power on all the trees.  It works I scream
out in laughter. I love my Power. I have had so much fun turning
everything to gold. I have just one teensy problem. I will not be able to
give my family hugs no more. I will not be able to eat my tea tonight or
any other time. I feel so bad.  Why did I decide to do this.  It was such a
bad choice. I wish I could undo my wish.

Swimming

Today it was swimming.  We walked down the road to the Mosgiel pool to have
swimming lessons. My teacher was Imogen.  She made us do freestyle, back
stroke and stream line and at the end we had to see how far we swam
without breathing or walking.  I really enjoyed swimming. I have already
learnt how to breathe while I am swimming.
Goal one: I want to be able to swim the whole pool without stopping
Goal two: I want to be able to keep my hips above the water when I'm
swimming on my back
Goal three: I want to be able to swim in a straight line without crashing

First swimming lesson

First swimming lesson.

It was at Mosgiel pool. There was 3 groups. They were testing us to see who was going to be in which group. We went through some of the simpler strokes. It was good first time at the pool.
My goals to achieve before the end of the swimming week are:
* swimming a bit faster
* making sure that I have my chin tucked down on my chest.
* going much much faster

Keep Calm and Carry on.

Swimming Laura

Swimming session 1

Today we went swimming at Mosgiel pool. We walked down there at 10 past 9.
On Friday we got a swimming cap. It was white. At the pool I was the only
person who wore it in the class but I always wear it. It makes me go
faster because without a cap your hair gets heavy and weighs you down.
Well…. That's what I think. We were assessed by a lady so we can be put
into groups tomorrow with people of our own ability. I think that swimming
will be a blast!

Bridget's swimming story

On the 26th of November we had session one for swimming lessons. I enjoyed
swimming because we got to do lots of fun things like the game at the end.
Swimming was really hard for me because I don't have lots of confidence in
a deep pool. It is also hard because I am not that tall so I struggle to
stand in deep water. Room 5, 6 and 7 all had swimming. Room 7 was first
then room 6 then 5. In my group we did freestyle first. I didn't do
so well in that because we had to lean onto our side to breathe and I
have not been taught to do that in deep water. Next we got to do
backstroke. I did a lot better in that because I don't have to breathe
under water. I was really glad that we did not have to dive off the
platform at the end of the pool. We all got a number to know our groups. I
got number 3. I enjoyed swimming.

Swimming

Session 1

On Monday we went swimming. Before we left Mr. Bros came in to tell us
what to do and what not to do. I was so excited to go swimming for our
first time this year. When we got in it was really cold and the only way I
was going to be warm in that pool was to go under. We did back stroke and
free style and we played a game.  We had to go under and see how far we
could get. Laura won because see is so good.  I can't wait til tomorrow so I
can hear what group were in.

Swimming

Room 6 had their first swimming lesson at the pool. I wasn't very good but I will get better. When we first got in it was cold but it got warmer as we swam.  I had so much fun. I just can't wait for tomorrow.  I have 3 goals: my first goal is to breathe more, second goal to keep going and third goal to keep my eyes down.

I didn't go swimming

Today I didn't go to swimming because on Sunday I went to Titri park. I went up the hill and did the jump at the top of the hill and went down too fast and hit the big tractor tyres. I broke my front mudguard and my number board and my leg is in lots of pain. I like swimming but I just can't swim in the water because it is very painful,  so that is why I'm didn't go to swimming.

Swimming lessons

Today I went to the pool for school swimming lessons. I loved the school swimming lessons because they made it fun and I love water and I love swimming. Three goals that I need to work at are going a little bit faster, making sure that I look down not up, and hold my breath for longer for races.

Swimming

Room 6 had their first day at swimming.  I could not wait until we got
there. When I first got in the pool I was very cold but when I did my
first length in the water I did not feel cold anymore. I had fun having
my first swimming lesson and can not wait til next time. My three goals are
I need to keep my arm straight, bend my elbows, and keep my head down.

Swimming

To day we went to the Mosgiel pool for the first swim. We got ready to get in the pool. We went down. the line.  We went fast.

Swimming session1

Today is all about seeing where our swimmers are at - grouping for our two weeks of lessons! It is very exciting to see how competent some of our swimmers are!

Part 4

Part 4
Finally it's my turn. First the host Frederick Marshall comes and talks to me about how I'm feeling. "Nervous I guess."
"On your marks, get set, GO!"
I slide down the slide. And race to the hurdles. I leap over them tripping over the last one. I've got a huge scratch from the rocky ground. But it's not deep I skid to the rock wall and grab the rope and climb up it in a flat 8.3 seconds. WOW. Fastest time so far. I jumped into the water and swam to the sucker punch. Bam. A puncher from the wall hits me hard in the stomach. I topple off and now I'm covered in smelly mud. I battle on to the end. With a time of 5.23. The second fastest time! I'm through to the final 10. Yay!

Part 2 and 3 Zara

Part 2
"You are the lucky 20 who will have a chance. Your first task, obstacle course. Yes a dangerous daredevil course. The 10 people that have the fastest times will continue to the next round.
I look around at my competition. Around 10 people look about the same age as me. But the rest are about 30 and over. Some with bulging muscles. Eek.
Part 3
They've taken us all around the course. Showing us what we have to do and face. First 25 hurdles about 90cm high. Then run to a 50 metre climbing wall. A sucker punch off the wipeout and loads more.

An announcement flashes up on the T.V. "Chocolate is banned!" As he says this our chocolate supply suddenly disappears. "There is one last piece of chocolate in the world. Would you like to be this lucky person? If so come battle for it in our amazingly tricky bone braking challenges. You can put your name into a container ONCE and then if you get drawn out go and compete. Now for the weather. Goodnight."
"Olivia Green" I look around in surprise. "Me?" I walk up to the person who is drawing the names. "Congratulations he says with his big cheesy grin. If you could just walk over there and wait for the rest."
I'm on a train with my  family and the rest of the people whose name got drawn. Mum will be watching me. I want to make her proud.

What does this tell you?

The Clocktower...

Room 4 and Room 6 have been writing together this week.  We used the Literacy Shed Clocktower story for motivation...  Thank you to Rob Smith for the amazing motivation for our writing.
We created artwork to symbolise our beautiful colourful world and a world that is dull and drag, except for a splash of colour...
We would love to know what you think of our artwork and our stories!

Dance all day...

There once was a girl who danced around all day to keep the clock tower going. Every time she stopped dancing the world went dull and cold and when she started to dance again the world went bright and colorful.  It was like magic. She felt so sad. She couldn’t talk to anyone around her.  There were lots of balloons flying everywhere.   A green balloon flew in the window and the girl picked it up and danced with it...

The Clock tower

Once upon a time there was a little girl. She lived in a clock tower. When she was dancing the world was colorful. When she stopped dancing the world turned gray. The little girl went outside and saw that there was no color and no people. She was very sad. Then she went back into the clock tower and started dancing again and suddenly the color came back and the girl was happy again. From then on she didn’t stop dancing.
Alex (Room 4 guest writer)

The fantasies of ‘The Clock Tower’

Once upon a time was a little girl in a little village living in a tall clock tower.  Day and night she danced gracefully to a smooth beat.
One day she glanced out the window. Multi coloured balloons floated up in the air. She wanted to explore the big wide world. She’d never set foot outside her tower before.
She stopped dancing and skipped out the front door in excitement. As she stepped out everything appeared to be frozen. The life and colour had been sucked out of the world.
She was scared and anxious. What had caused this abrupt turn?
She walked around the village. Everything and everyone was frozen, their profiles a dull, dull grey.
She brushed her hand lightly against the balloon thinking all was lost. To her amazement the colour and movement flooded into the balloon. “Strange” She thought to herself. As soon as she took her hand off the balloon it froze again and returned to grey.
She sighed deeply and trudged back to her clock tower not trying in the slightest to hold herself upright. Like she always did when depressed she slowly revolved on the spot. As soon as she started to dance in her tower the village and world came back to life.

Clocktower

A long, long, time ago there lived a cute little girl, who lived in a clock tower.  Everything was colourful then something strange happened.  The whole world changed, and everything went black and white.  So the little girl started  dancing and everything went back to normal.  The balloons kept floating in the air, then the little girl lived happily ever after.

Oliver (Guest writer Room 4)

Clocktower

Once upon a time was a little girl in a little village. I am gracefully dancing in my chamber.  Looking out the window I see colourful balloons. I want to explore outside. I walk outside and to my amazement the world turned grey and froze. I’m feeling panicky. What has happened? I walk around the village and everything is frozen. I touch  a frozen balloon. As I touch it the colour floods back into it. Strange.

Nicole (Room 4 guest writer)

Clock tower

Once upon a time there was a little girl and every morning she watched the world going on and she was sad because she was locked up in the clock tower.  Everyone was getting on with their life so she made up her mind to take the happiness out of everyone’s life so she sucked out the colour and the land was dry. But not so far away a king with an army was on a daily walk and he got a message that there was an evil lady that was sucking the land away.  So he came with his army to fight the queen.  When he won he put colour into it again and they lived happy ever after.

The clock tower

In Petone there is a humongous clock tower, which bangs loudly on the hour. Petone is a beautiful coloured place which relies on a girl called Ginny to keep turning and spinning to keep Petone working right. Every day was the same for Ginny; she loved ballet, but longed to see the world. One day (Saturday the 24 of November) was the town fair and everyone had left Petone and gone into town. Ginny so wanted to get out of the clock tower. Ginny couldn’t resist it anymore and got out, but when she did everything froze and went dull.  Ginny raced to the clock tower and continued dancing. She only got out for about a minute but Ginny was okay she had seen the world.

Colorful

In a colorful world where the magic happened it went black and white and it froze It was in a big tower she got a fright. They saw a big clock. The clock moved and the little girl danced.
Kayla (Room 4 guest writer)

Clocktower

Once upon a time there was a girl, she loved to dance and prance around.  She was locked in a clock tower, she could not talk to anyone around her , when she was inside the world was magical and colourful and when she was outside the world went cold and dull, then she went inside and she danced around and the world started all again and she was happy that  she could look out of the window and then she danced and pranced around.  She loved to look out of the window when she danced.
Shannya (Guest writer Room 4)

The world became...

The world became the most… well dull place she’d ever seen. It all started because she wanted to grab a green balloon that she was too slow to grab BUT since she was the person to live in the clock tower she needed to keep dancing or else the world would stop and lose its colours.  She decided to take a permanently not needed break just to get another green balloon! (Weak!) But as I told you earlier the world stopped and lost its colours and all she did was tap a balloon and shout hello and back came the echo HELLO! HELLO! (Got quieter and quieter until it stopped) but then she thought about it and thought about it and thought about it… And she eventually went back in to dance again and a green balloon came in the window and the world went back to normal. She then lived happily ever after. THE E… oh yeah I forgot to tell you her name. She is called Tucker.  THE END!

Little girl

There was a little girl who lived in a clock tower.  She lived all by herself.  She went outside, there was no one there.  When she went back into the tower it went black and white.  When she went inside she danced on bolts.  There was a clock turning.

It all went dark when no-one was around and the little girl was lonely and sad. So she went out into the world and it all froze.

Laura's Rat's Tail Story

Today I brought in my knitted rats tail. My sister found it when she was
cleaning out her room. It was super long because she has had it since she
was little. It was really cool for her to give it to me. Its multi
coloured. They are dark and light colours. The doll I knit it around has
a face and some painted on clothes. You knit it with a knitting needle but
I tend to use a piece of wire. I will carry on making the rat's tail
longer until I decide to stop making it. That will be a while I guess. Now
I have two. I have a pretty pink one and a plain but long one.

Today the chocolate factory is shutting down, FOREVER. So we are up
early and are getting ready to buy some chocolate. The time is 5:00 in the
morning. I'm so tired and my family are crazy about chocolate. Finally we
arrive just in time.  There are crowds and crowds of people there but we
still line up and get a block.  After eating the block there was one piece
left. "mine" dad shouted. "mine" mum called. "mine" blubbered my sister. I
wasn't even going to bother. As they loudly argued about it I went to my
room and opened my draw to my stash of chocolate, "all mine" I said to my
self.

The Hungry Games Part 2

We race to our private jet to get to the Sahara desert, going as fast as
possible.  We have to get that piece of chocolate. Finally we've reached the
desert.  It is huge! How are we going to find one piece of chocolate in this.
Wait what's this? Is that the piece of chocolate? We go down.  Yes there it is.
I jump out of the plane, grab the piece of chocolate and jump back in. We
are flying over the ocean I am about to eat it when I get knocked and it
falls into the ocean.

The last piece

I am watching a movie on the TV I stole because it's hard to by stuff in
the woods, since I'm a monster. I get up to go to Georges home to scare him
while he is sleeping. BOO!  That didn't work.  Let's try again. BOO! Oh well I
will see what's on the table. I accidentally left a bar of chocolate there
last night. Ahhhhhhh they ate it! why? Wait, there is one piece left. I eat
it.  That's good but there is just one thing that I need to say.  Ask before
you take it.

Wet

The water was cold and deep.  It went up up and into the shops. The shops were wet wet wet, so wet that they had to get big dryers in to dry the water out of the carpet and to dry the walls too.

How wet is too wet?

How wet is too wet?

This morning we went around the block to see the damage that the rain had caused on Sunday. It had rained heavily on Sunday and had started to creep into the shops. Luckily most of the owners stopped it before it penetrated the items they were selling. During our walk we saw lots of dehumidifiers sucking the moisture out of the carpet.

How wet is too wet?

Today we went for a walk down the street to see the damage of the
rain.  Some of the shops had pipes poking out from the doors. It was to get
the water from the carpet and put it out in to the street. Zack's mum's shop
got lots of water in it down the back.  It was like three centimetres of
water in the bank.  The posters were all wet in the real estate shop.  There
was a bad smell. It smelt like expired milk And it smelt like my brothers room.
It was probably the mostly damaged shop.  They had a pumper to pump the water out of the shop and into the street.  We were allowed  to bring our iPods and iPads to take photos.

How wet is too wet?

Today we went for a walk because of the rain. We are making artwork on it. We have to make a person holding an umbrella.  We are doing it on blue and green dye and putting our people on black paper. We are also putting rain on it. When we went for our walk every shop was pretty much flooded. We went to a magazine store and someone said yes it was flooded and the gutters and spoutings were full. She also said that the water wouldn't go into the pipes because they were old and too small. We also went to Living Corporation. I walked in and man it stinks.  They had heaters to suck in the moisture.  We also went to blend cafe.  They got flooded at the back of the cafe. The cafe was owned by Zack's Mum and Brya's Mum. That was all we went to. I think it was amazing how it really affected some of the shops.

How wet is too wet?

On Saturday we had a big flood.  We had to go to the cafe because it flooded under the back door. That was not very good.   We tried to block up the door but that did not work very well, so we got dad out the back to unclog the drain. We had to stay in the car because the rain was getting the very bad. Dads feet were very wet. We had to stay dry for the rest of the night.

How wet is too wet?

Today we went for a walk around Mosgiel to see the shops with all the
water in them from the rain we had in the week end. We walked on the left side
first and then we walked on the right side. They had machines to take all the
water out of the carpet.

Athletics day.

Athletics day.
Yesterday at Peter Johnson park we had our annual athletics day. First up was the long distance runners. We had great runners and even managed a second place by Laura. The. We were straight into it. First up we had High jump. I'm not sure what height it started at but I cleared it on my first go. And then the second and then it was nearly taller than me so I didn't have a chance. After we went to 75 meters. My dad came and watched me run. I got into the finals and came 4th just. Then we went to shot put which I was never very good at so didn't mind my one. Long jump. I didn't jump very long though. Yay, 100 meters. I got into the semi finals and abut ten meters from the finish line my leg started playing up. I battled on and came 3rd and had to race again which was agony. I'm not sure where I came maybe 4th or 5th. Discus went okay. After that I realized that I wouldn't be able to run in relays. So Alex took my place. Athletics was really fun and I had Great time.

The clock tower

There once was a girl who lived in a clock tower. She danced to make the
world go round.  Without her the world would be black and white and no
movement. One day she stepped of the clock gears and decided to go outside
but when she got there nothing was moving and it was all black and white.
There were balloons dead still in the air. When she touched one it was
brought back and started floating again but when it was out of her reach
it stopped again. She went back to the tower sad and miserable. When she
got there she started dancing again then the world was back and colorful.

Once upon a time

Once upon a time there was a little girl. I was dancing and dancing. I stopped and went outside but there wasn't any colour, it was dull. I went inside sad. I started dancing and it was colour again. Now I realise that if I don't dance everything will go blank. A balloon comes in the window in colour. Now I think I won't have to dance again. And I don't. Now I am sure that I don't have to dance again. So now I go outside and start dancing with joy because I got to see colour properly

The Clock-tower

Once upon a time there was a little girl who lived in a clock-tower. She
danced around all day long without a care in the world. One day she was
looking out her window watching the balloons and colors float around her
but what she hadn't realized is that she had stopped dancing.  Suddenly the
sky turned black. She ran down the stairs and went outside to see that all
of the beautiful colors had changed into black and white. Then she ran
inside and started dancing again and to her surprise the color came back
and the clock-tower started working again . She was so happy that she
never stopped dancing again and the color was never lost since that day.

Lorie's clock tower

Lorie's clock tower.
Once upon a time there was a girl she worked in a tower made of old rusty brick. One day she wanted to go outside the tower to have a look at the beautiful nature but as soon as she stopped working the clock and went outside the world froze and turned black and white. As soon as she went back up to the tower and started working it again the whole world unfroze and went back to colour. The girl was so sad because she found out when she does her ballet dance in the clock tower the whole world starts up but if she stops her ballet dance the whole world freezes and turns black and white. I feel sorry for her.

Clocktower

Once upon a time there was mystical world, until a bright colour came up
in the sky and made the world bright and colorful.  It made the world a
different place and everybody thought it had changed. I looked out of the
clock tower and see colour everywhere and then it went black and white.
The clock stopped and that was when it went black and white. I
was dancing and when I stopped dancing it went back to the colours it was
before. I tried to get all the coloured balloons and then I kept them.

The Clocktower

Once upon a time there was a girl who lived in a clocktower. She had to keep dancing and turning to keep the colour in the world. But is was her life-long dream to go out and explore the word. On her 16th birthday she decided to go out. It was what she'd wanted her whole life. She went down to the bottom of the tower.  She ran out excitedly and went for a walk. When she was walking she realised that all the colour was slowly fading away. She was disappointed for it not to be a colourful world. What could she do? She ran back in to the clock tower and danced around the place. And the colour slowly came back.

Emmas clock tower

Once there was a little girl who lived in a clock tower. She once looked out
the window. It was colorful then, she went down the stairs. It turned black
and white. She got scared.  She went back in the clock tower.  She thought it was magical.

Once upon a time there was a girl that lived in a clock tower. She went outside and the colour was fading away. I was upset to not stand out in a colourful world. She went back inside and a balloon went into the clock tower. She was happy to see some colour again. She lived happily ever after.

Devon clocktower

Once upon a time there was a magical world that changed colour. The little
girl worked at the clock tower and when she stopped dancing the world
paused and the colour came out of the world. When she went back inside and
danced the world's colour came back and everything moved.

Clock tower

There was a little girl that danced on bolts. The clock went and the world moved. The girl went in to town and it was black and white. The color was gone.  She was the only person there that had color so she went back to the clock tower and the color came back.  The world moved again and the girl was happy again too.

The clocktower...

Once upon a time there was a place that nobody knew of. There lives a girl.  Her name is Ally. Ally had a life in the clock tower.  She has to spin and spin to keep the clock moving. One day she had an idea to stop moving. She went for a little walk.  She went to the door that goes outside. She walked into the joyful world but it is not joyful at all. She thinks what have I done? I have made a big mistake, that is not good. Ally needs to make up for this.  She starts to spin again.

The clock tower

Once upon a time there was a little girl that lived in a clock tower . She
was magical because when she danced the clock moved It was amazing. There
were balloons floating in the air when she danced on bolts. When she stopped
dancing everything went black and white.  She lived in the clock tower all
by herself.  She had no parents, no sisters and no brothers. When she was
happy dancing the world was colorful but when she was sad it was black and
white.

Once upon a time there was a girl in a clock tower. The girl was magical.
In the clock tower she danced on bolts and made the clock move and it was
strange.

Jacks clock tower

It all happened when the world froze.  She walked outside and the world also changed, because she stopped dancing and so the clock stopped. It was bad that she had stopped dancing because the tower controls the world. Also because she stopped the world it turned from colorful to black and white.

The Clock Tower

Once upon a time there was a little girl who lived and ran the clock
tower. She danced so beautifully in the clock tower with her ballet. She
was so sad that she had to live in the clock tower and make it go. The
little girl just loved the little village as it was so pretty all the
balloons, flowers, people and happiness. The little girl decided it was
time to explore this wonderful world as it looked so nice. So the little
girl went down to the bottom of the clock tower and opened the doors then
walked out and saw nothing at all everything was black, grey and white
nothing was as colorful as it looked from inside the clock house. No one
was there, no one was happy nothing looked nice. She decided to go to the
top of the clock tower once again. She was spinning the clock tower once
more and everyone was happy once more there was lots of people with
laughter. Poor little girl nothing to do.

Callum clock tower

Once upon a time there was a mystical village, a bright vibrant village
full of colour. In the middle of the village was a clock-tower and in the
clock-tower was a girl who powered the clock. Balloons started floating
everywhere. The little girl gazed at the balloons through the clock-tower
windows. She stopped to open the window and carried on doing her job
cranking the clock. She stopped a few minutes later and went down the
clock-tower steps to go to have a look outside. Everything turn to black
and white and paused. Whenever the girl touched something the colour came
back and when she let it go it turned black and white and paused. She went
back to the tower and everything went back to normal.

Jayde's clock tower story

Once there was a colorful village where a little girl ran the clock tower.
She was dancing so beautifully but still wanted to see the world and
explore it. When she went to explore the village the world turned black
and white and froze. She was so sad. Poor little girl.

There was chocolate in a bowl until that morning. I woke up and it was gone.
I think some one in my family might have taken it. So I go around room to
room spying while they are still asleep, going in to see all around the
room until I see chocolate crumbs all over the ground. That was the last
piece of chocolate in the world and it is gone. It was the last piece that
cadburys was making forever and ever. I had people wanting to buy it off
me until Cadbury's made one more cake of chocolate.

I came home and mum had food everywhere. She brought this for Lent because
were giving up lollies. I can't give up lollies. I'm going to give it up.
At teatime we sat around the table then Mum put pancakes in front of us
and said dig in. We went to grab our pancakes but when I grabbed mine
their were no pancakes left because my older brother took six. When we
finished we did the dishes then mum put lollies and chocolate on the table
and turned the movie on. I grabbed mine but their was only one piece of
chocolate.

Making people

On Monday the 19th of November Mrs K brought a new friend of hers to school.  Her
name was Mrs Bush.  We did some art.  We got pice of paper then
there was a box full of dye. We had to dip the piece of paper into the
box. When we took it out it was blue and green. Then we cut out a person from newspapaer. Then we put the person on the blue and green background and we got a
paint brush and flick it on to the background and then hung it up.  It was
fun.

How wet is too wet

In the weekend it was raining nonstop. We went on a walk down the main
street to see the damage.  We saw some shops with dehumidifiers in them.
The worst of them all was living cooperation.  It had eight dehumidifiers
in it. It was really cool seeing the places with the dehumidifiers in
them.

How wet is too wet?

Today Room 6 went for a walk up the main street. We were looking for
evidence of what the heavy rain did to the street. We put on our vests and
hats and went to the back crossing. We walked straight down the road. We
stopped at a clothing shop. In the window was a machine that was absorbing
the moisture and spitting it out through the tube. We took lots of photos
of this wonderful machine. We kept on traveling down the road to see signs
of the flooding. The drains were blocked on Sunday so the rain made the
gutters flood. There were also heaters in the real estate building. They
were drying the carpet and it was hot in the building. The smell was
really strong. There was quite a lot of building that had water in them.
As Room 6 says "How wet is to wet?"

The big rain fall Alex

In the weekend it was really rainy. It was so rainy that most of the shops were leaking from the roof. We went for a walk today and most of the shops had dehumidifiers to take the cold smelly wet air out and put warm air in. It was really wet and the road was covered in water.  We saw 8 dehumidifiers in Living Corporation. Going to see what rain can do was really interesting. I didn't know that rain can do so much damage.

Last Chocolate Cadburys Ever made

Dad came home in a rush to tell us bad news. He came in the door and explained that because he got promoted in his job at Cadburys he got the last piece of chocolate ever made from CadburysL.  We’re so devastated that it had happened but glad the Richard’s family got the last piece on earth. Now it was the hard part we had to decide who gets the little piece or cut into five small pieces. We decided to cut but not everyone is home so I try sneak it in my mouth so no-one suspects me.

Karaoke Night

On Saturday I went Ice-skating with my friend Liv. I fell on my butt and slipped and did middle splits in my pink skinny jeans! There were Russian Olympian trainers there.  My friend gets trained by them. I learnt how to do a triple spin. After that I went to a karaoke night that our friend Sue was hosting. There were people there from Canterbury for a dart competition. My mum got up and sang New York, New York. I was tempted to go up and sing blue suede shoes but  there where a lot of people there. The machine broke down two times! That did not stop anyone. I had a great time and would definitely go again.

Ciara's PLN

I have shared this with you to show how I learn and work in a personal environment.
I learn on the net with people and with lots of other things. Here are different ways I learn!

My PLE

This is my PLE. We shared our PLE and PLE today. I enjoyed sharing it.
I learn all the time with my family and friends, and on my tablet and laptops. I learn online on blogger, google chrome, Internet and Wikipedia. I can also use books and calculators.

A fight to the end!

A fight to the end! The last caramello chocolate is in the hands of the wrong person!  A delicious never ending chocolate is almost gone. I sprint to the lasting chocolate as the enemy awaits at the golden metal throne. He clashes his sword at me like a knife as I duck under him, as quick as a bullet I swift over him like a super hero! He dives for the chocolate as I rush and snatch it off the table, swinging his sword at me like I’m his victim? A fight to the finish. What will happen after this?

PLN AND PLE

At school today we shared our PLN and PLE.  Some of things we had on it were what we learnt off and who we learnt off.  My favourite way to learn is on my ipod.

Laura's 100 word challenge

There it was, the last piece of chocolate in the bowl. Should I eat it?
Will I get in trouble by my Dad if I eat it. I reached for the bowl when
all of the sudden my Mum walks in.
"What are you doing Charlie?" said Mum.
"Nothing" I replied. I ran to my room. I hear my Brother Riley's footsteps.
He's heading to the kitchen. Mum went outside. Footsteps start
again. The door opened and I heard a scream. Mum yelled "Riley!!" Dad
arrived. He didn't mind because Riley is 2. Should've eaten it after all.

Bridget's How Wet?

How Wet?

Today room 6 went for a walk down the main street to look at what was over
the top with water. Down the main street we saw dehumidifiers in lots of
shops because of the flood of water. What happened was in the gutter there
were all these leaves and they stopped the water from getting away so
the water went over and caused floods in shops. On Sunday when I went to
church we saw the mess on the streets and in the shops. I enjoyed the walk
because I got to see up close what happened. In one shop their was a
terrible smell because of the wet wool. The wool got wet and it didn't smell nice
at all but we were all used to it because when we made the bottle bivy all
the rotten milk stunk. So how wet is too wet? Well this weekend sure was
wet!

Thomas how wet is too wet?

How wet is too wet?
Today we went for a walk down the road because there was a flood. When we
were walking we saw a dehumidifier in one shop so we took a photo
of it. In another shop we saw about four in a line and three woman
told us some things about what happened. There was a bad smell of wet
wool. It really stunk but you got used to it. Then we went to  blend cafe
and it was affected to. We are making artwork about how wet is wet.

The non-stop rain...

Last weekend we had a lot of rain which flooded some shops on the main St of Mosgiel. Today we went walking down the Main St.  We went past ANZ and we saw a dehumidifier  right at the front of the bank. Most shops we went past had a dehumidifier in it. We stood outside Blend espresso while Brya and Mrs K went in to see if Brya or Zacks Mum was working to tell us what happened when the rain was flooding.

Callums Main St walk

Today after prayers we went for a walk down the Main St to see the damage
from the flooding in the weekend. When we were walking we saw
dehumidifiers and fans sucking the moisture out of the carpet and whatever
else is wet. We went into Living Corporation Real Estate and it smelt really bad, it was
like the butterfly museum, but worse! They had fans and dehumidifiers. You
could see the line of mud were the water had been. We saw the lady in
the magazine shop and she explained why it had flooded. We walked right
round the block.

How wet is too wet?

Today Room 6 went for a walk around Mosgiel to see how much damage the rain had
done to the streets and shops. Most of the shops had dehumidifiers in them
getting all the moisture so the shops would be dry. We went inside some of
them and they smelt really weird. There were wood chips and dirt all over
the road and streets from the water pushing it there. Also we went to
Zack's mum's cafe (blend expresso) and looked at what the rain had done
there. Around the walls out the back had a line across the walls where the
water had got to but they are cleaning it up now. The whole purpose of this
was to see How wet is to wet? Well the dehumidifiers explained a lot and
signs outside shops said they were part time closed due to the rain.  Also
the dirt and wood chips, that's how wet it was.

How I learn...

My fish

My six pound trout
In the weekend I went fishing at the Taieri River. I caught a sea trout. I was fishing at around nine o’clock in the evening. I had done about twenty casts at one spot. I was casting in the most random way when at the most unexpected moment I hooked up. I wound up the fish with all the energy I had. Dad told me to come around the bay and up the small bank. I took it slowly to tire out the fish. At this time I thought it was a tiddler because the fish had more energy than me. But the fish shall not beat Fisherman Sam with all the strength we have to land the fish up onto the bank. The size was unknown until we were able to see it. It was hard to see the fish because the water was murky. When we got on land Dad got the pliers and squished its head. It wasn’t dying so I got the spanner and whacked it on the head. I kept on working my way down the river each cast hoping for another fish to catch. I had another bite but he didn’t like it. We went back home and gutted it.  We had it for tea the next night it was yum.

Thinking about our conversations tomorrow.....

So the first #kidsedchatnz went off with a bang.  Thanks to those schools that got involved.

This weeks topic is: Fun times at school!

Q1: What is the best thing you have done at school this week/term/year?

Q2: What did you learn from that experience?

Q3: How can you use/share those skills/lessons in your everyday schooling?

Q4: What more would you like to learn about the topic? What can you do to learn more yourself?

Grandparents are important because they take you places and care and
love you.  When my granddad takes me to his farm we round up the bulls and cows and
goats. Grandparents are important because they give you lollies, and play games with you.
My nana comes places with us and they can tell you stories from their days
and if they liked school and how they got to school and  if school was the
same back then or if it has changed.
One day nana took us to Timaru with my aunty who came for Arizona. I love
my grandparents.

My grandparents

My grandparents are important to us because they take us to places like McDonalds and into town.  They talk about Mum and Dad and their life.  My grandparents give me money for Christmas and for my birthday.  They come for Christmas dinner.  My grandparents are important to me because they babysit us when Mum and Dad go shopping and when they go into town.

Grandparents are important

Grandparents are important because they are always there of you and they love and care for you. They take me places and look after you. You can talk to grandparents about everything. They can tell me stories about your parents and their parents and you can talk to them. They will love you no matter what. Even if you don’t see them that often you can make lots of great memories when you are with them that you will remember for ever. Grandparents can take you places and have lots of fun. Your grandparents are very special. I love seeing my grandparents.

My grandparent are important because they love me. They take me places
like on Christmas day they take me to their house and we have dinner. We
also bring all of the presents that are under the tree, and grandad calls
people's names that are on the present.  My mum's sister come to mums as
well and so does my 2nd cousin Corey and Kaylene and Zack and Harry and
Ollie and Emile and everyone brings there present. Sometimes my grand
parents tell me what my mum and dad did when they were kids. I love my
grandparent do you?
