T.O.V(transit of Venus) 6-6-12

Today is no ordinary day!  Why you ask? Because it's the transit of Venus! It only happens every 105 years. We went out 4 times today.  The first time was at 11:10, the second time was at 11:50, the third was at 12:30, and the forth was at 1:30. We went out with our safe solar viewers. Venus looks like it has only moved in millimetres but it has actually moved in km's. I wonder how the sun orbits Venus since it is not a star.  What I really want to know is why some things melt when too close to the sun but Venus does not?
